Why we price per account, not per website
Per-domain pricing punishes the people who look after the most sites. Here is how CookieRay's plans work instead, and what we limit.
By CookieRay team
Most consent tools charge per domain. For one website that is fine. For an agency or freelancer looking after twenty client sites, it means the twentieth client costs exactly as much as the first — and the bill runs to several hundred dollars a month for something every site needs.
We think that model gets the economics backwards, and it is the reason CookieRay is priced the way it is.
What actually costs money
Showing a banner and recording an answer costs very little to serve. Extra languages, geo targeting, custom CSS — none of these cost us more for one customer than another.
What does cost money is scanning. Every scan opens your pages in a real browser, one page at a time. And storage: keeping consent records for longer.
So those are the things our plans limit:
- how many sites an account holds,
- how many pages a scan reaches,
- how long consent records are kept.
Everything else is the same on every paid plan. A $9 customer gets the same features as a $99 one — just fewer sites and shallower scans.
The plans
| Plan | Sites | Pages per scan | Records kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | 50 | 1 year |
| Starter — $9/mo | 1 | 500 | 1 year |
| Growth — $29/mo | 5 | 1,000 | 2 years |
| Business — $59/mo | 15 | 1,000 | 2 years |
| Scale — $99/mo | Up to 100 | 1,000 | 2 years |
Paying yearly gets two months free. The banner and blocking are included on every plan, Free included.
Why “fair use” on the top plan
Scale holds up to 100 websites. The API refuses the 101st. A limit stated at the start is a limit; the same limit introduced later would feel like something being taken away.
For agencies
One account holds every client site, under one login and on one bill. Every site is rescanned on a schedule, and when a new cookie appears on a site you have not touched in a year, a notification lands in your dashboard — so you hear about it before the client does.
